Robert & Barbara

With both of our complex diabetes and cardiac medical conditions, and trouble walking, we couldn’t live on our own safely.

We have both lived at Oak Hollow since 2008 and will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.  We receive good care here.

They take good care of us.

Therapeutic Recreation

The goal of the Therapeutic Recreation Department at Oak Hollow is to help our residents realize the benefits of a healthy leisure lifestyle.  Our programs are designed to meet a resident's abilities, interests and needs.

Our Therapeutic Recreation staff encourage our residents to continue the activities they enjoyed at home adapted to a facility setting.  We provide opportunities for residents to develop new interests, as well, and join in activies that enable creativity and self-expression.  Our programs are individually based, and we encourage everyone to “Flaunt Their Uniqueness” while reducing stress through activities that relax both the mind and body.

Our Recreation calendar changes monthly, with live entertainment, pet therapy, intergenerational programs and much more.

Our residents enjoy raising money for various causes to help our community.  We have recently donated to Cancer Care, Vets Care, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Save-a-Pet.  We also hold bake sales throught the year to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association of Long Island, and hold a yearly Alzheimer’s mini walk.

We offer a volunteer program for any interested family or community members.  Please contact our Director of Therapeutic Recreation for further information.
